Country music power couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill tried in vain to pull one over on Music City. You see, fans quickly realized that a secret concert announced as a performance by Sam & Audrey at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium was in fact the duo’s real first names and as such the event at the Mother Church scheduled for October 4, 2016 sold-out in a blistering 30 seconds.

Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and their large band thrilled an S.R.O. audience in Nashville.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill recently celebrated 20 years of marriage and the purpose of the evening’s special show was two-fold. One – it served as a “thank you” to their fervent fans and a marker of their momentous occasion. To commemorate it they offered all tickets for the low price of 20 dollars each. Second, and not to be overlooked, was the announcement Faith Hill delivered following their opening number that her and Tim will be hitting the road for the next chapter of The Soul2Soul Tour scheduled to begin in the spring of 2017.

“So, we wanted to have you here this evening because we wanted to say something to you,” Tim declared, before handing the mic back over to his wife. Faith then continued, “So, we are going back on the road on tour. We are going to go from side to side, south to north, all the way around the globe.”

“If it’s okay with you guys (it was) the blonde is gonna kick it in the ass right now,” McGraw enthused introducing a solo segment from Hill. “This Kiss” kicked off a steamy set that was powered by the pair’s powerful backing band.

Throughout the night the couple seemed to eat up the enthusiastic reception of the electric crowd who were thrilled to be among country rock royalty on this historic night in Tennessee’s most famous town. Many of Music Row’s top songwriters were in the house and there were a number of celebrity sightings, too. We ran into Mark Collie who was reveling in the release of his long-awaited Brushy Mountain album and we glimpsed the bubbly Kimberly Schlapman of the chart-topping Little Big town holding down one of the best seats in the balcony.

Tim and Faith carried on and continued to showcase choice nuggets from their back-catalogue. Faith looking leggy in all black took center stage to present some of her biggest songs such as “Mississippi Girl,” “Cry,” “Stronger” along with her popular and potent cover of Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart.”

“This is the best place to play in the world,” declared Faith between tunes. Tim opened his segment of the show with “Something Like That” and “Shotgun Rider.” Other highlights included McGraw’s life-changing song “Humble and Kind,” “Here Tonight,” and the sassy “Real Good Man.”

During Bob Seger’s “We’ve Got Tonight” Faith joined her husband and the cover earned the pair another ovation from the amazed and appreciative audience. The concert ended with an intimate encore as Tim and Faith got very “touchy feely” as they sat and sang “I Need You” to each other.

Soul2Soul The World Tour 2017 will kick off in New Orleans on April 7, 2017. McGraw and Hill will return to Nashville on August 4 to play the Bridgestone Arena. The 65-city tour celebrates the 10th anniversary of the record-breaking “Soul2Soul II” tour, the highest-grossing multi-year country music tour of all time.
